Bed Weather

November 15th, 2004

After a week of being transferred to Makati, I’m back in Cebu again to settle some work related undertakings. The wind is cool and the sky is overcast here. Rain has been falling since before noon: drizzle, rain, and drizzle again. What with the reported typhoon Unding meandering across Bicol.

Ahh, so good to spend the afternoon sleeping especially after a much needed massage at Body and Sole. I’ve been wanting to have this soothing massage since last night. Have been spending the day with my friend and his SFC group mates at Olango island for the much publicized bird sanctuary where one can find migratory birds in transit from the north to the south and vice versa.

Well, as of yesterday, not much birds were seen: a couple of Chinese egrets and a snipe feeding in the shallows, and probably a night heron that was roosting under the Pandanus tree just near the reservation center. We were told by our guide that usually, birds are really plentyful when December sets in until january where the migration season peaks. But going there was an experience.

There’s another bird sanctuary island here in the Phils.-Mindoro. But sad to say never been there yet. And there are trees around the countryside identified and protected by DENR as bird sanctuary trees.

Yeah!!! The guide was right. The best time to visit Olango Island is when winter time comes in. The visiting birds there are migratory birds. There will be lots of them feeding on crustaceans and anything palatable to them. Too hungry and weary of the long distance travel from other continents. (Particularly Siberia)
