Kung Fu Hustle - Stephen Chow

January 8th, 2005

What a great way to spend a boring afternoon with some shallow but hilarious movie loaded with great effects and funny sequences in the mold of the Matrix but without the serious, thought provoking dialogue. “Kung Fu Hustle” by Stephen Chow, follows his other movie done in the same manner, “Shaolin Soccer,” but this time, its 1930’s China wherein the streets are ruled by the Ax Gang, a notorious gangster group. I was pretty much bowled over by the CGs especially in the run up to the climax where one can easily remember the courtyard scene of “Matrix Reloaded” wherein Neo was attacked by a horde of black tuxed men just rushing into the scene.

And Neo had his Oriental match.
