While visiting these churches one afternoon, I was amused that in Tiwi, Bacacay, Malilipot and Tabaco had weddings rites being held.

Tiwi Church, Albay

Malinao Church, Albay

Malilipot Church, Albay

Bacacay Church, Albay

Sto. Domingo Church, Albay

Daraga Church, Albay which is made of volcanic rocks. Located at a hill, this elevated place offers great views of Mt. Mayon.

While there may be differences in ‘beauty’ of the various churches built during the Spanish era, I am singularly affected by the ‘how’ they were erected. Moving those stones, mixing the mortars when cement was virtually unavailable and still have time and patience to input some art/style are awesome works.

Hi Beth, thanx for dropping by. We’ll I’ve always wanted to visit Miag-ao church again. I agree, its one of the country’s best churches. Now, if only I can squeeze in time…

These pictures reminds me of a 1 week visit to Iloilo for the reason of churches alone. I always wonder where in the Phils can we find the best church architectures. But definitely one of the best is Miag-ao Church. It is the stone, the carvings…so much labor for those people in the past.
