Madagascar - Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath

A barrel of laughs. Its a lighthearted movie and a good one that never ceases to amuse children and adults alike. From the comforts of the city, Marty, the zebra, was yearning to do more worthwhile things than being stock in a zoo all his life when he celebrated his 10th birthday. He also pined of going back to the wild after being told by the psychotic (Alex the lion said that) penguins that its really a conspiracy and that they don’t belong there. Whether its choice or no choice at all, together with his friends, were placed in boxes and transported but along the way, something happened that they all wind up, except the penguins who plotted all this, in Madagascar.

Well, the lemurs were funny and Chris Rock as the voice of Marty was even funnier. I just had a great laugh when the penguins, who has been dreaming of enjoying Antarctica arrived there and found that it was just too frigid and no fun at all. In that scene, they were just standing and looking at nothing but white, ice and the raging winds. Well, not really for them that they decided to go back there way and drop by at Madagascar.

I like the movie. Its like leaving your comfort zone, discovering the world, finding new and great things. Breaking out from self imposed routines and living your dreams.

Its like what I want to do :-)

From SM Megamall

May 30th, 2005 | No Comments

Was watching the movie Madagascar and when I exited SM Megamall, it was just raining very hard. I just sat on the stone steps like these department store employees waiting for the rain to stop or at least come to a slight drizzle.

The rain indeed stopped and while walking to the other side of EDSA via the overpass, took this photo of the new and spanking walkway leading to the entrance of the mall. Its massive, compared to the one before it. Its made of steel and fiberglass and it just looks awesome! It just reminds me of waves. Finishing touches are still being done.

SM Megamall was where me and my college classmates used to hangout inbetween and after classes. Its also where me and my boardmates go during weekends to watch a movie or just bum around, windowshop and observe people when there’s nothing to do at the boarding house. Its now old but they still manage to develop and enhance it from time to time and still, especially on midnight madness sales, its more like a town fiesta with people from all walks of life converge, shop, look, eat and just kill time.

Pinatubian light

Hmmm. I never thought that the Mt. Pinatubo eruption way back in 1991, when I arrived in Manila with my father to enter Don Bosco Technical College as a first year college student, can be the reason that a trademark be registered. This website tells it so (and this one too).

A rainy Saturday night

May 28th, 2005 | No Comments

Outside SM Megamall and the ground was wet. Good. It has just rained. Cool evenings again and I won’t have any concerns getting wet. Boarded the bus and when it reached Guadalupe I was in for a surprise as big drops of rain started hitting the windowshield of the bus. Uh oh… okay maybe here its just raining but probably not in Makati. Boy was I wrong. At the junction of Pasong Tamo and Buendia, it was raining cats and dogs. Good thing that I brought with me my umbrella but it was not enough to shield me from the driving rain while walking back home.

My pants and shoes and socks were just soaking wet.

And so, Erap has set up his own website to have a venue so as to counter the governement’s “alleged” propaganda and distortion of the truth. Visitors can even write to the “President” and read columns and articles from loyalist newspapers. Unfortunately, my favorite, the Eraptions, his collection of jokes and malapropisms does not function.

Okay, at least the guy is still optimistic. Hope springs eternal. But he’s gota move on. He’s unfortunately stuck!
