Mga Pusang Gala - Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil
October 21st, 2005

Digital films are sprouting like mushrooms in the Philippine movie scene and because of the lower expenses compared with those of celluloid, it has enabled independent film makers and producers to come up with more, non-formulaic but quality works that has been screened lately. One of these is Marfil’s film Pusang Gala. Despite the somewhat cheesy poster, it has garnered glowing and positive reviews with topnotch performance of veterans Ricky Davao and Irma Adlawan. This is the second film I’ve seen the latter after the Sa North Diversion Road by Dennis Marasigan shown during the Cinema One Originals film festival and again, I’m very much convinced of the acting prowess of this actress.

Direk Ellen thanked me for writing the first review ever written of this film, and quoted from my article for the Reviews Section of the official website. A glorious day, hehe!
BTW, The Library is my own which I am developing. I want to open a CineCafe soon, where entrees are named after films. A free film showing (only for customers and/or library members) will be held on the second floor. Still looking for investors.
