Going nuts. Really nuts!
Retired General Fortunato Abat must be going nuts. Last Tuesday, he declared a transitory government at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan, appointed himself president together with three cohorts who will take care of the various functions. For more than a few months now, he has been calling for the overthrow of the Arroyo presidency on grounds of corruption. At the height of the Hello Garci controversy, he announced a protest that he will be organizing but backtrack when support fizzled out. I don’t think that he will be successful this time. Already, politicians from both the administration and opposition have already passed judgement as infantile, pathetic and ridiculous. As of today, a citizen’s arrest was done on him. He’s now at Crame for interrogation.
I just wonder when will this senile 80-year old realize that he’s better off to retire for good instead of dabbling in the political circus, become a victim (or maybe a fool) or, horror of horrors, unwittingly selling himself for other people with ulterior motives to use. But again, anything can go in this comedy of sorts. Maybe its time to gather him and Vice President Teofisto Guingona, Jr., another gentleman from the Black and White Movement together in a white room with no windows and locked. If they want to succeed in their efforts of unseating Gloria, then, they have to be credible.
How pathetic for these otherwise brilliant gentlemen in their twilight years degenerating to foolhardiness.
