12 June, Philippine Independence Day. Many people and students are just happy that there’s no work and classess today. Especially that this is a Monday, many are in the provinces, traveling, having a time off and just enjoying the long weekend. However, except for the mandatory government worker’s assembly and the prescribed laying of wreath at Rizal Park and raising of the flag in ceremonies nationwide, I doubt if the full significance of this day is being felt and remembered.
