Series 34 now started at Binary Silver. Twelve black and white people portraits taken during my numerous travels but mostly taken in Cebu. The series opens with the picture above, a security guard stationed at the main entrance of the Cebu Capitol. This is also one of my entry to the Epix 06. Other photos:

- Cebu: boys bathing at the shoreline of Oslob and Sibonga in the south, at the wharf in Danao City in the north; Enicka looking up to me and a candle vendor and another boy in Carcar church

- Puerto Princesa, Palawan: a fish vendor taken at the city’s public market and another entry for Epix 06

- Paete, Laguna: two sisters and a lady who were participating in the Mayflower festival that is the Santacruzan

- Lucban, Quezon: an old lady looking out her window during the Pahiyas festival, this year, and

- Makati City: photo taken of a young lady backstage during a live performance of the senakulo taken last Holy Week.

Just nothing. I like the way the photo, with its geometrical features, blend well with a black background. By the way, the security guard shot was taken at the capitol of Cebu City. An impressive American colonial structure at the end of Jones Ave. (now Osmena Boulevard). Camera used was my previous Canon Powershot G5 around 3 years ago.

Epix 06

Just read an email from Ross Capili in one of the forums announcing Epson’s Epix 06 photo contest and my photo/s have been included in the top 200 that will be vying for the top prizes! Hmm, however, I’m not really sure what photo made it since I submitted 10 entries.

At least, I’m already assured of a coffeetable book. :-)

WOWOWEE!!!

Series 33: All About My Father

Capt. Jose A Cabigas II, 1949 - 2006. This is a tribute to my father who just recently passed away. 15 photos of his things that I have found at home and in his luggage that came a few days after his body was brought back to the country. Things that make me remember and what represents him. Shuffling through his belongings, reading his notebooks, I just can’t help it but be emotional. I admit, I’m not that close to my father. In fact, he’s been away for more than half of my life braving the seas to give us a better life.

I hope that with this 15 photos, I can present my father through my eyes. And thanx to Pedro Almodovar, I borrowed his Todo sobre mi madre (All About My Mother) title which is a very good film.

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers out there!

First Academy

Well, woke up early to be able to join the free workshop at the First Academy of Computer Arts. I’ve been quite interested with the courses offered at this training facility like the Web Design, Digital Arts as well as the 3D animation. Let’s just say that I’m looking at the possibility of a career shift. A way to a new beginning.

It has already been long that I’ve yearned to shift to something new. A change to almost ten years of doing telecoms work. And the workshop this morning, involving 2D and 3D animation was great!

Should I take the next step?
