Black Nazarene at Quirino grandstand
January 10th, 2007

A break from tradition, the image of the Black Nazarene, in celebration of its 400th anniversary, was transported Monday afternoon to the Quirino Grandstand where a vigil was done. The following day, the procession was held at around noon. Despite that I don’t have my camera with me during this time, I went to the Luneta to see the image. Alas, it was far from the grounds and fenced off. One way to touch the image is to fall in line which at 0900H was already snaking almost a kilometer!

Shubert, you should try to schedule joining the procession. You still have a chance during Good Friday this year. Its one of the very moving processions that I have gone to, twice.
Sidney, I\’m amazed that your still having problems with it. Maybe, you should change provider :p
Anyway, I wasn\’t able to follow the procession this time. My camera\’s still in the repair shop. It would have been my third straight year of documenting it. The Bicol posts, specifi to typhoon Reming will start this Monday.

Hi Estan,
Happy New Year!
I see you are very busy with the new outlook of your different blogs and websites. They all look great. Congrats!
Alas I can\’t visit as often as I would like. My internet connection is sooo sloooow due to the damaged undersea fiber optic cables (according to my internet provider!). That is also the reason why I didn\’t started posting in my own blog yet.
We could have met in Luneta as I was at the Quirino Grandstand at the same time as you.
As usual it was an unforgettable day. I followed the whole procession to Quiapo and went home in the evening.
I am also very interested in your Bicol pictures (my wife is a Bicolana from Barcelona) and I will dig into your pictures as soon as my internet connection is back to normal.
Wish you all the best for your next projects.
