MV Catalyn D sunk
June 13th, 2007
MV Catalyn D on its way to Coron from Manila sunk off the coast of Mindoro Occidental last Sunday. It came as a surprise to me since it was the boat that I took from Cuyo to Coron Palawan around October last year for an assignment to shoot the fortress churches there and in Culion. I wouldn’t have taken it since I was already on boarded another ship bound for Puerto Princesa but when I learned that Catalyn D will travel direct to Coron, I switched.
I had plans to do a photodocumentary on that boat on one of its trips Manila – Cuyo – Manila but now, it seems that I have to look for another potential subject.

I think writing a usable OS in assembly is cool enough in itself, that’s a significant accomplishment. However I doubt anyone is really likely to adopt this as a serious number crunching platform. It is efficient NOW but it can only become less efficient over time as new modules are added and hardware support is needed.
