salagubang.net overhaul

June 27th, 2007

salagubangblog.jpg Salagubang.net is my first attempt at building a website and it was the reason why I bought a digital camera (Canon Powershot G5) in the first place. Now, I’m doing a major makeover. First, I added a blog to it so that I can post additional information about my beetles and Philippine Coleoptera in general that is so lacking in the gallery site. The blog is the perfect vehicle for this kind of info since it has permalinks, ping, rss feed and comments. Second, I am migrating the old pages entirely to WordPress. I admit that its a bit daunting since it involves around hundreds of pages but I’m already starting it with a local install. Because of this makeover, I’m doing away with some of the parts like the feature, exchange and what’s new.

The old site is really a mess and I’m having difficulty updating the individual files since it was done in Frontpage. WIth Dreamweaver, its much more easier. Ideally, the old entries should be done in PHP/MySQL, unfortunately, I still have to learn the nitty gritty part of converting it that’s why as of now, I’ll make do with WordPress pages. One good thing that I’m very much happy about doing this overhaul is the use of cascading style sheets (CSS) to separate form from content.

Entries are posted at least once a week.

ferdz, nakaktuwa nga rin that I made the salagubang blog. I’m not really expecting much traffic except for a select few, like other beetle enthusiasts pero our country is so rich in terms of these creatures that there is still so much thing to do in the name of science. Naks. hahaha…

Amazing Estan! You are contributing a lot here in this other passion of yours. Nakakatuwa naman. Never knew we had so much species of these beetles in our country. Something to be proud of really
