Atis ice cream anyone?
Tired of the usual Magnolia/Nestle and Selecta ice cream offerings, it was a welcome surprise that during a trip at Rustan’s Supermarket at the Arcenas Estate in Banawa, me and my mother found Arce ice cream being sold. I haven’t tasted yet their products and with the not so common flavors: nanca (or nangka –> jackfruit), atis Delight (sugar apple), blueberry cheesecake, etc., I got curious that I got the first two, a pint and a quart, respectively.
Atis! I love this fruit. Never mind if I’ll have to continuously spout the countless seeds but it always is a fruit available from the tree at our backyard whenever I’m home in Cebu. The fruits are fist sized and with heaps of creamy, sweet pulp. Now this, an ice cream version that I just have to taste.
It is creamy and delicious and one can immediately taste the atis flavor that I can compare it with eating the actual fruit without the seeds. Its that good and not too sweet compared with the nanca.
Marketman meanwhile was a bit disappointed with his.

bai! this sounds like a good idea. arce has always been known for their quality ice cream though i didn’t know it’s still around as they’ve been the original owners of the selecta brand, if my memory serves me right.

ATIS?! Oh, wow. It probably takes kilos of this fruit to make one gallon of ice cream! Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely try this one out.
