No to Erap pardon

September 27th, 2007 | No Comments

This early, while Erap’s camp is preparing its motion for reconsideration, the administration is already saying that a pardon for Erap is already in the advance stages. Why do we always have to accommodate this person? Isn’t the previous accommodations accorded to him not enough? If the government would want to set an example, he should spend time for the crimes he did.

Justifying it all under national reconciliation and unity is giving too much credit to this unrepenting former president. Let him pay for the corruption he did.

NO TO ERAP PARDON!

Cataloging RAW photo files

September 23rd, 2007 | 5 Comments

freeagent I’ve been busy the past few days copying my RAW photo files into a portable drive in order to catalog and organize these into a system that is searchable so that finding photos would be easy instead of going over lots and lots of DVD discs. And if you’re going to handle more than 100 x 4.7Gb of data (my files almost breaks the 500Gb level –> with photos that I’ve taken since 2003), its no easy task.

The whole business of cataloging photos becomes easier with Adobe’s Lightroom. If it happens that I will own a Mac, I would still prefer this one compared with Apple’s Aperture software. Other than a much affordable price, its much better, as what I have read.

Now, the whole task of organizing like copying from DVD to a newly purchased Seagate FreeAgent 500Gb into Lightroom and keywording stands before me.

I’m disappointed

September 21st, 2007 | 6 Comments

A teenage boy approached me while sipping my coffee at a cafe in Robinsons Galleria while waiting for the rains to stop and he placed a folded yellow printed paper on my table. Peeking from the fold, I was just able to read Musika. He uttered “Sir, donation…” I immediately gestured to say no. He uttered something again but it was incomprehensible to me and I again gestured no. Cutting him in his attempts to convince me. Helplessly, he got his paper and left for another table just behind me. And another. He was always refused. I saw him head to the escalator. Disappointed.

I felt guilty with what I did. Maybe this guy was just doing his part in his group’s plans of making a project come true. Maybe it was his way of contributing to a worthy parish cause. But I never bothered to check the folded yellow printed paper put on my table. I never bothered to call him again and learn what he is trying to do. I never bothered even if pangs of guilt crept into me.
I’m disappointed with myself.

The Mystery Man: Mike Arroyo na naman?

September 18th, 2007 | No Comments

The House Speaker’s son Jose de Venecia III, founder of the losing bidder Amsterdam Holdings, Inc. (AHI) just testified in the investigative hearing at the Senate this morning and he named the First Gentleman, Mike Arroyo, as the one who confronted him to “BACK OFF.” This perhaps alludes to the National Broadband Network (NBN) project which the government wants to implement to connect all government agencies nationwide.

The winning bidder, ZTE of China puts the total cost of the project at $329 million and the government will utilize the $400 million loan to be facilitated by China and to be granted a sovereign guarantee. While the contract has not been approved (its still a supply contract agreement), yet, and the Supreme Court issued a temporary stop to the implementation, it seems that the dealings, as what the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported in an issue, a few days ago, gangland style, is really murky and highly suspect. What with allegations of bribery, corruption, sexual orgies, wiretapping and now this, a direct confrontation with Mike Arroyo?

I’m not really sure if the allegations are true. But as of now, I’m inclined to believe Joey, as J de V’s son is called, more or less. Now the President’s husband should give his side.
