After posting about the movies that I’ve watched in the recently concluded Pelikula Pelikula 6th Spanish Film Festival, I was able to attend the screening of 4 more films:

7 virgenes - Alberto Rodriguez, 2005 (Spain). The title actually refers to a ritual belief that if one gathers seven different images of the Virgin Mary, lights a candle and count to 60 while facing a mirror, a vision of how one will die will appear after the count which came true with the main character’s best friend. Other than that, its a wonderful coming of age film about experiencing the rough but exciting life of a teenage delinquent, reflecting on his life and making choices for his future.
Derecho de familia - Daniel Burman, 2006 (Argentina). Another good film that fathers and their sons should watch: the oftentimes difficult relationships between the two, understanding each other and of learning to be a father to his children.

Iluminados por el fuego - Tristan Bauer, 2005 (Argentina). In our life, sometimes we need to visit the past to heal old wounds and come to closure. This is a film about the experiences of three young friends during the Falklands war between Argentina and Great Britain and how that experience has haunted each other, well, the two friends who survived, well into their life a few decades later. Its another wonderful Argentine film that are unlike other war films.
Otros dias vendran - Eduard Cortes, 2005 (Spain). Life, love and sex in the age of the internet where a 40ish teacher has been chatting her way to find these things but oftentimes leads to disappointments and disasters until she meets a man that is the answer to her dreams. But a strange twist of fate plays that either will break or make their love. An interesting film, I should say, that deals with, again, choices that one just has to make for life and love.
Unfortunately, I missed La vida secreta de las palabras - Isabel Coixet, 2005 (Spain) which was voted Audience Choice.
