38.1 degrees Centigrade
38.1 degrees Centigrade doesn’t seem much but I just feel my body burning. What started as a sore throat , an infection, an impending cough and cold early this afternoon at The Block, has developed into a fever. My throat is aching. My nose is on the verge of protesting with the nasal channel starting to be blocked with phlegm. To say that I’m a little uncomfortable doesn’t embody what I’m feeling now. Its just painful. Hot. And draining.
Looking back three weeks ago, I volunteered to install for the World Press Photo 2008 exhibit. Started at The Podium, followed by Mall of Asia and now at The Block, it has changed my biological clock and altered my sleeping patterns. We worked from 2200H - to the early hours of dawn the next day. Not only that, I was tapped to guide visiting high school students and talk about the photos, photojournalism and what makes an image.
For these three weeks, I’ve been sleeping way past 0300H each day and wake up a few hours later. It’s making my head throb and ache but I just can’t seem to sleep early. Darn! Then last night, just well into thirty minutes past 3 AM and less than an hour of sleep, I just woke up from a bad and scary dream and never slept again into the morning. By 0800H, I have to leave for SM North Edsa to guide the students.
This might have been the last straw. Not enough sleep and coupled with just foul drenching weather made me vulnerable and after speaking myself hoarse even with a sore throat, competing with the mall’s own program located behind the exhibit, was just too much. I was drained. I walked to Trinoma to take a very crowded MRT and when I reached home, my fever started.
