Photofriday challenge: Faces

March 14th, 2005 | No Comments

These male devotees during the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila are awaiting the carroza of the Christ to come out from the church. When that happens, all hell breaks loose as every devotee (more like fanatics) wants to come near the image to touch it.

A detailed account was posted before under the topic Quiapo - The Black Nazarene Feast.

Lensday Challenge: Comfort

March 5th, 2005 | No Comments

My entry to the Lensday Challenge: Comfort. This was taken during the Black Nazarene Feast in Quiapo, Manila, 9 January 05. The activity for these men is quite taxing, with the pushing and shoving happening once the carroza bearing the holy image of the Christ starts its journey around its route within the area. Resting for a brief moment, this man takes comfort by resting on the road while waiting for the image to return to the church. And the pushing and shoving will start once again. All for faith.
