Series 59: Urbanscapes

In time for the Mapping Invisible Cities exhibit that will open in Manila this 17 October, I am starting a new series in Binary Silver. Series 59: Urbanscapes is a series of photographs that I did for the Peter Bialobrzesky workshop early this year.

Images were taken in the Macapagal Avenue area near SM Mall of Asia that is fast transforing into a new destination for business and entertainment. The work presents the concept of “non places” in the Manila urban setting. These are familiar areas with their emerging developments but to the casual viewer, can apply anywhere in the metropolis.

I’m off to Singapore for a 3 day photo workshop

What a great chance to be included in the photo workshops in the Singapore International Photography Festival! And better still that a US$400 travel grant is also available for those coming from Southeast Asia. If not for this, I wouldn’t have come.

I finally got my copy of our photo exhibit catalog

I finally got my copy of our Mapping Invisible Cities photo exhibit catalog as well as 100 pieces of invites! Exhibition opening will be next Friday, 17 Oct at the Shangri-la Plaza Edsa in Mandaluyong City.

Please don’t forget to visit this exciting event which will run until 7 November. Everyone is invited.

Movies watched: September 08

The 11th Cine Europa was held last month at the Shangri-la Mall and the films screened were exceptional. Of the 16 that were shown, I was able to watch seven of which I really find Hîrtia va fi albastrã & Efter brylluppet very good. The rest are US films mostly watched in theaters. On the other hand, the original Bangkok Dangerous (1999) in Thai by the same directors is way better than the Nicolas Cage starrer.
