Pacquiao vs Cotto is the most awaited boxing fight event of the year

November 13th, 2009 | No Comments

This weekend’s fight, 14 November (15 November in the Philippines) Filipino Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Angel Cotto, a Puerto Rican, is the most awaited boxing event of the year! Dubbed the “FIREPOWER” it is the World Welterweight championship fight that most boxing aficionados and boxing fans and fighters have been awaiting.

Six-time world champion pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquio, with 37 boxing knockouts to date (75.5%) is pitted against three-time world champion Miguel Cotto with 27 boxing knockouts under his belt (77.14%). This boxing fight will be slated at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. For me and my cousins, it will be a watch on HBO boxing pay per view.

Touring New York with a large group?

November 10th, 2009 | No Comments

The Big Apple seems to be the center of the world and touring in this beautiful city is one of the must do things. But if you’re a large group, traveling from one point to another can be a hassle unless you have a reliable transport company that will bring you to your destination be it conventions, visits to amusement parks, shows, day trips, custom tailored tours or just airport/hotel transfers.

Charter bus NYC provides reliable, well maintained buses for your needs when visiting New York. What’s more, they have friendly staff, on-time service as well as environmentally friendly (read: Green) vehicles. What’s great about this is that you can book or ask for a quote online and for those companies who are purchasing tickets in advance, they give a discounted rate of 10%! A discount is also available for group transfers.

Their vehicles can accommodate from 9 to 57 passengers to any destination. These vehicles are top of the line with quality amenities like reclining seats, PA systems, audio video capabilities, climate controlled for the best comfort as well as the presence of lavatories for ultimate convenience.

Touring New York City need not be difficult as long as there’s a reliable transport service to bring you to many destination.

Film: an Introduction, 2nd Ed. – William Phillips

November 9th, 2009 | No Comments

filmintro.jpgI have no film subjects during college and lately, I have been looking at film appreciation workshops but found none. The same is true with books until this one.

What a good find during a visit at Bestsellers, the bookstore at Robinsons Galleria. For such an informative book, Film: An Introduction, its a steal at only P299 ($7)! The quality of the paper is good for the price and this isn’t even a local reprint. Published by Bedford/St. Martin, 2002, it can be used as a student material.

Inside:

  • its fully illustrated with high quality film stills with informative captions to illustrate key concepts
  • it has extended resources to give the complete picture like novel excerpts from storyboards, interviews with noted filmmakers that gives one a complete introduction to the medium
  • helpful definitions found at the margins of pages
  • color plates, helpful glossaries and an accompanying website
  • film examples from different era starting with the Lumiere Brothers to contemporary (pre 2002) titles

Well, as a movie fanatic, I do look forward to be more educated about the medium that I love.

Google positioner wordpress plugin is causing me problems

November 2nd, 2009 | No Comments

I was trying to edit a post in my travel blog, langyaw.com but I was having problems with uploading images as well as editing these images within post. Simply put, the image uploader or upload/insert buttons doesn’t work. I tried reinstalling wordpress to no avail.

Checking my plugins, I remembered that the latest I installed was the Google positioner wordpress plugin and tried disabling it.

All went back to normal.
