Typhoon Milenyo

Crippling typhoon Milenyo (international code name Xangsane) whooshed its way right in the center of Metro Manila wreaking havoc and mayhem. Early morning and already the rains have been pouring unceasingly from the previous night that the front of the condominium where I’m staying got flooded. I thought that it was just an ordinary typhoon when around 1100H, the shafts of the building were already whistling as strong currents of air passed through. The rains, which was just slight started to get strong as the winds started to get powerful. Leaves of trees were being flown high as the electric power supplying the building started to become unreliable. On, off, on, on, on, off, on…

1200H, an unseeming calm just descended. The rains again was slight and no more strong winds. We’re already at the center of the storm, the eye of the typhoon is already passing, I thought. After 30 minutes, the wind again started to howl but this time, at the other direction. Strong rain, powerful winds again. Then suddenly, the power was cut off. The generator started but not for long, it conked out and darkness in my room.

1500H and outside, it has calmed but still no power. Night came and it seems that most of Metro Manila is dark. I went out supposedly to watch a movie but when I arrived at Glorietta, it was closed. Same with Shangri-la Mall in Shaw Blvd. Along the way, it was just dark. Branches were cut and littered the road. Some trees fell while, in Estrella, misfortune came to some people aboard a car and an FX taxi when one steel billboard toppled.

Fortunately, I was able to go to SM Megamall. It was hot inside as the airconditioning was not working but with nothing to do back at the condo, I watched Flyboys but was disappointed with the movie that I left.

A dark afternoon

The skies over is just dark as hard and driving rain as well as strong winds continued to pour down and howl. Glenda (the typhoon) might already be far away but its effect, inducing the monsoon, still continued while, as I was told, down south, its just sunny. Classes have been suspended at all levels already as some low lying areas of the metropolis and surrounding provinces already are flooded.

Me? Still here in the office ready to press the button that will usher in a new phase of my life. A few hours from now, that button would finally be pressed to start the wheels of change. Quite risky. Really risky but now is the time to take a chance. To take the plunge to the unknown. To the new horizon of which I am comfortable to say that I will, at the end of the day, weather and conquer it.

I’m now ready to face a new life. I’m ready to pursue and fulfill my dreams and get my groove back.

Finally!

Drenched metropolis

Oh boy! Typhoon Florita (international name: Bilis) just blew across Metro Manila yesterday and really, wind and hard driving rain drenched the metropolis. As for me, lucky that I was not too wet except for my shoes that got soaked. It was really a good time also to just stay at home and sleep.

Photos taken with NOkia 6680 but when sent via MMS to my yahoo account, got resized to rather small… Anyway, I’m still in training in Mandaluyong and wasn’t able to upload this last night.

First Academy

Well, woke up early to be able to join the free workshop at the First Academy of Computer Arts. I’ve been quite interested with the courses offered at this training facility like the Web Design, Digital Arts as well as the 3D animation. Let’s just say that I’m looking at the possibility of a career shift. A way to a new beginning.

It has already been long that I’ve yearned to shift to something new. A change to almost ten years of doing telecoms work. And the workshop this morning, involving 2D and 3D animation was great!

Should I take the next step?

Just sick and not feeling well

Weather’s not been so great here in Makati. Its just so humid and afternoons, it drizzles. That’s why, the other day, after walking under a slight shower back to home, when I woke up the next day, I just felt different. My tonsils started to act up, an impending cough and colds. By afternoon, I was already having a slight fever. Darn! Add to the fact that I had two meetings to attend to. By evening, I was already burning with fever. Thermometer readings varied from 38 - 39. This morning I went to the company clinic and was given antibiotics for the tonsilitis.

I just hope this fever will subside before tomorrow.
