Exasperating predicament, 3

May 1st, 2007 | No Comments

Finally, after much desperation of making this blog work, I decided to just make a fresh install of the blog and imported three sql tables from the original sql database:

  • wp-posts
  • wp-comments
  • wp-categories

I tried importing the wp-links table but it just got me errors that’s why I didn’t add it. All was okay until I saw that the posts didn’t have categories in it which means that even if I have imported the wp-categories table, these were all empty!

I guess, I have so much things to do to have this work back to where it was before the transfer. Now, after configuring the options and settings, I have to add in plugins, go over themes and customize these, individually tag and categorize posts, all 1,700+!

But at least, I have addressed the problem.

Exasperating predicament, 2

FTP just worked fine a while ago and I have refreshed the wordpress install. Unfortunately, the same problem encountered.

I rechecked the visual editor usage and since Firefox wasn’t able to give any errors, I switched to Internet explorer and an error came up:
blogerror1.jpg
In the case of IE, the text box is inaccessible and if one clicks on it or the Save and Continue Editing, Save and or Publish, this error comes up.

I’m becoming desperate! Gota update this new obsevations to the wordpress support site.

Exasperating predicament

April 30th, 2007 | No Comments

Three days since I have transferred to a new server and I’m really experiencing difficulties on this blog! At first, when I tried posting, the body just disappears after clicking the Save and Continue Editing, Save and Publish. The Submit button of the comments part does not work also. I posted at the Wordpress support forum (this is the post) and got a reply. I followed his suggestion of ticking off the usage of the visual editor in the profile page. After doing this, the problem of the disappearing body text was corrected but the comments submission is still not working.

I planned of doing another reinstall of all the wordpress files and SQL database via PHPadmin but unfortunately, I’m experiencing frequent timeouts in this internet cafe!

Gota be online again tomorrow.

Migration to Pixelpost from Wordpress

July 20th, 2005 | 2 Comments

NOTE: I have long switched back to Wordpress for the photoblog and doesn’t use Pixelpost anymore. Also, Ramin Mehran’s script doesn’t seem to work anymore.

Pixelpost, in the end, proved to be a much better photoblogging tool than current implementations of Wordpress like Pictorialis. Its much simpler and has a great community of developers as well as users that make it a viable alternative. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have anything against Wordpress which is a great regular blogging software. Its just that I haven’t found a template that will fit my photoblogging needs.

I started testing Pixelpost Friday night and until Saturday, while I was successful in installing it, Ramin Mehran’s, script, Import from Wordpress to Pixelpost just seemed not to work without errors. I was already getting exasparated that I just posted at the Pixelpost forum about my problem as well as emailed Ramin. Nice thing about it was that he was quick to reply. Since I still experienced problems with it, I then had him access my server files to take a look on what’s the problem. Fortunately, he has found it, made adjustments, and voila! My photoblog, Binary Silver was now migrated to Pixelpost. I just have to make some minor adjustments as some comments were repeated on all posts.

To Ramin Mehran, one of the developers of Pixelpost 1.4, my wholeheartfelt thanx for your help. You’re a godsend!

Strayhorn!!!

February 19th, 2005 | No Comments

I’ve just upgraded to Wordpress 1.5, aka, Strayhorn and am now using Manji 2 as the theme. Except for the spam karma plugin that generated the following error whenever I click on a post:

Warning: in_array(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/estan/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/spam-karma.php on line 105

everythings normal. By the way, to get rid of the above error, I deactivated spam karma and deleted it from my plug-ins folder. No sweat. Might not need it since current spam prevention in Strayhorn seems robust and active. Haven’t got problems at my other Wordpress 1.5 blog Binary Silver.
